"Handling it" is not the same as being okay
Competence is a wonderful mask. It's also the easiest way to convince everyone, including yourself, that nothing needs to change.

'Handling it' is a genuine skill. It's kept careers on track and families steady through things that would have flattened other people. I'd never talk anyone out of being capable.
But capability has a failure mode. When you're the person who always copes, the people around you stop checking. Why would they? You've made not-needing-anything look effortless.
The quiet cost is that 'fine' stops being a moment you pass through and becomes a place you live. The gap between how your life looks and how it feels widens by a millimeter at a time, until one ordinary Tuesday you notice how far apart they've drifted.
The work isn't to stop being capable. It's to stop confusing the mask for the face. To notice the difference between actually being okay and being very, very good at looking like it.
Once you can tell those two apart, you get a choice back that you didn't know you'd handed away.
